So, I went to the GET (Genetic Edge Technologies) web-site to find out a little more about the company. One of the ingredients is, Basella alba. Though the herb has been used in folk medicine for centuries and sold as a supplement for more than a few decades there really has not been much valid human research on the herb itself. So naturally there has not been much research on the active compounds it provides- when harvested from the right places and during the right time of the year.

In one study “Bull testes from the slaughter house were a cheap source of pure Leydig cells. In culture, these cells produced testosterone for 5–6 days, which can be stimulated by human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG). Basella alba extracts significantly enhanced testosterone production in bull and rat Leydig cells in a concentration-dependent manner. Hibiscus macranthus showed no androgenic effect but was shown to inhibit testosterone production at higher concentrations.” When the most active fraction found in Basella Albra Rubra extracts was tested alone there was a 2 fold increase in testosterone production (200%).

In another rat study Mature male albino Wistar rats (180-220 g) were given by gastric intubation Hibiscus macranthus Hochst A ex Rich (Malvaceae) and Basella alba L. (Basellaceae) aqueous extract from both fresh and dry leaves, at a dose equivalent to 0.720 or 0.108 g of plant, respectively per kg body weight. Results showed that the extract from fresh leaves significantly increased the body weight of rats by 17% from day 7 as compared to controls. The serum level of testosterone was significantly increased on the 15th day by 80% in rats given both types of extracts compared to the controls. Testis of treated rats showed high testosterone production in vitro (136% and 62%, respectively for treated and control after 15 days. So we know it’s the fresh leaf extracts that is far more effective by over 2-fold. Now, imagine if your extraction method allowed for fractionation mentioned in the above study in favor of the actual compound that triggers the dramatic increase in natural testosterone. (Of course we isolated the actual “most active fraction” in our extractions. We are researchers and scientist, not kitchen sink formulators). But this does not mean that oral bio-availability is optimal due to just a unique and specific extraction method.

Divanil 95%, (-)-3,4-divanillyltetrahydrofuran A.K.A. DVTHF: are all synonyms for a specific lignand extracted or concentrated from nettle root (stinging nettle) that inhibits the actions of a protein called SHBG. The compound works very well for its intended purpose but it oral bio-availability sucks as well as does its plasma half-life. We fixed that but more on that later.

So how does (-)-3,4-divanillyltetrahydrofuran do its thing? For the most part your circulating testosterone is bound to a plasma protein called Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) which renders it inactive. As a rule SHBG normally binds over 90% of your total testosterone so that it can’t do it muscle and male signal thing by way of merger with androgen receptors (ARs). (-)-3,4-divanillyltetrahydrofuran is a lignand found in stinging nettle, which binds to SHBG allowing your testosterone to be freed so that it binds to Androgen Receptors for muscle recovery, performance and growth. This lignand shows very high binding affinity for SHBG about equal to that of DHT. Although free (active) testosterone is significantly elevated and maintained at the appropriate time-release dose, so is total testosterone. Naturally estrogen and estradiol are lowered! End result is a significant and functional increase in both total and free testosterone.

Nettle Root (Urtica dioica) Concentrate: So why would we add this if we already have the most active SHBG binding lignand (-)-3,4-divanillyltetrahydrofuran? Simple, we like the affects of a lignand metabolite called enterofuran as well as a few others that have several studies supporting the belief both inhibit DHT binding to prostate tissue thus hinder the effects of BPH. Keep in mind DHT is a powerful natural androgen and it drives everything from sex to focus to energy and of course, muscular augmentation plus performance support. Additionally, enterofuran too inhibits SHBG binding to testosterone thus supports an increase in free active testosterone.

Resveratrol: So now we have established a significant and results providing level of both total and free testosterone, it may be a good idea to increase it more while inhibiting estradiol activity and elevation as well. Resveratrol is a well known estrogen receptor antagonist meaning it’s like your little brother when you try to put some game on your date: It blocks any action from occurring. However, Resveratrol is also a powerful aromatase inhibitor (AI) thus not only perfect for blocking the estrogen receptors from various estrogens, it also inhibits aromatase enzymes. This means that the aromatase enzymes capacity to convert that manly testosterone into girlie estrogens is inhibited significantly. This mean you are harder and realize additional increased natural testosterone production by acting upon the pituitary gland. When this occurs the pituitary releases a hormone called letinizing hormone (LH) which in turn tells the testes leydig cells “More Testosterone”! One of the problems with Resveratrol is the same as many herbal related compound: Too short of a half-life. In this case Resveratrol possesses a half-life of about 14 minutes, which sucks if you are expecting a physiological benefit. Unfortunately Resveratrol has poor oral bio-availability. Yes, we corrected the problem and will explain later.

Bitter Melon Extract: Bitter melon is also known as Momordica charantia. Many interesting physiological qualities have been attributed to different parts of the plant from from hyperglycemic and insulingenic to androgenic properties which appear to be similar to a SARM in action and another study shows a significant increase in natural testosterone resulted. The latter has only been validated in rats at this time though we certainly are looking forward to doing human studies since it has been in use as a food, folk medicine for centuries and as a supplement for about 60 years. We have included Bitter melon in Jungle Warfare Extreme for both its positive affects upon glucose clearing (more cellular glycogen for more ATP, better pumps and increased protein synthesis) and its SARM-like affect. So here we come to the part where readers ask 'which is the best prohormone to take and when?' It is not possible, nor advisable, to offer specific advice on such a subject. Generally speaking, all we can say is that it is advisable to start with a mild steroid first and keep doses low, typically for 3-4 weeks. For a novice this will still lead to excellent gains. Still, even with them, an estrogen blocker should be applied after all cycles with prohormones.

Assuming a good clean diet is eaten, normally the only advice we would recommend is to increase protein intake to at least 2g of protein per pound of bodyweight. So for a 200lb individual, 400g of protein a day. Given the fact prohormones are all oral in nature, we recommend increasing water intake also and employing the use of a liver protectant such as silymarin and N-acetyl cysteine, along with fish oil dosed at 6g a day. Those who are particularly anal may want to consider taking their prohormones with grapefruit juice. In theory, this will help increase their gains via inhibition of enzymes that break down drugs leading to enhanced absorption.

Effects – Being a prohormone to DHT, The One can be expected to be notably androgenic, resulting in dry, muscle gains with an absence of water retention and solid gains in strength.

Side Effects – Being that it converts into DHT, The One can be expected to be tough on the hairline as DHT is the hormone most responsible for hair loss. As it does not convert to estrogen or progesterone, side effects related to those should not be an issue. Liver toxicity would remain a concern though and it would be a good idea to take this product with something to support health liver function.

1,4 AD Bold 200 – (1, 4 Androstadiene-3, 17- Dione 200mg)

Made by I Force Nutrition, 1,4 Bold 200 is a precursor to the compound Boldenone (Equipoise) which has a very long history of use in bodybuilding circles and is highly regarded for its ability to increase muscle mass with minimal side effects.

Effects - Bold 200 has the advantage of being non-methylated making it a first choice along with Furazadrol, or Finavol for newcomers to the prohormone field who are typically concerned about liver toxicity. Users typically can expect to notice improved muscle gains which will come steadily and less dramatically than other compounds, as well as an improved appetite and increase in vascularity.

Side Effects – There is a comparatively low risk of both androgenic or estrogenic side effects and being non-methylated makes it an ideal choice for those concerned with liver health. It also makes it ideal for use in a stack with stronger, non-methylated prohormones such as dymethazine.

Finavol – ( Estra-4,9-diene-3,17-dione)

This product has Dienolone as a target hormone and is non-methylated, making it safer on the liver and an excellent choice as part of a prohormone stack.

Effects – Finavol is well suited to athletes looking for muscle gains with an increase in vascularity and strength that are compared as qualitatively similar to the compound Trenbolone. It is a noted lean mass builder.

Side Effects – Tren products can negatively impact upon libido in some people.

Furazadrol – [5a-androstano(2,3-c) furazan-17b-tetrahydropyranol ether - 50mg]

Furazadrol was developed by Axis Labs as an alternative to methylated prohormones such as Havoc or Dymethazine. As a non-methylated compound it will appeal on the grounds of being very safe and is often used by beginners new to prohormones either alone or in a stack with Bold 200.

Effects – Furazadrol has a high anabolic to androgenic ration meaning muscle gains with low risk of androgenic side effects. It does not convert to estrogen meaning gains will be lean in nature, with an absence of water retention.

Side Effects – Although the risk of side effects is low, it is usually required to be dosed in dosages of 200-400mg a day making it quite expensive. Given its otherwise favorable profile it makes an excellent choice for someone looking to stack with another prohormone.

Cynostane – (2-cyano-17a-methyl-17b-hydroxy-androst-3-one - 10mg)

Cynostane is a brand new prohormone which features an alteration of the superdrol compound, with a cyano bond instead of the 2a-methyl superdrol bond.

Effects – Cynostane, developed by Anabolic Innovations, is an extremely anabolic compound with remarkably low androgenic action, making it qualitatively similar to the likes of Oxandrolone or Methenolone (Primobolan). It is non-aromatizing meaning it will not produce estrogen mediated side effects and its high degree of anabolic action makes it a favorable choice for athletes concerned with losing bodyfat while maintaining, or increasing, muscle mass. From feedback to date, Cynostane has very potent recomposition effects making it ideal for athletes and when dieting. If using to bulk up, calories would need to be increased considerably.

Side Effects - Bloodwork conducted by users shows that Cynostane has a more favorable effect on blood lipids, and liver values than superdrol itself. Although feedback to date is limited, the combination of low androgenic action, lack of aromatization to estrogen, and low level of general health effects, makes cynostane an intriguing newcomer to the prohormone world.

Protodrol

Protodrol was introduced by I Force Nutrition, designed to be a less toxic compound than some of the older prohormones on the market. Daily dosage is 50-75mg a day.

Effects – Protodrol is considered to be a potent mass builder, with a low incidence of side effects being very favorable on both liver and lipid profiles. As it does not convert to estrogen, Protodrol will impart muscle and strength gains with an absence of water retention. As such it is a very versatile compound which can be used for both bulking, recompositioning and dieting.

Side Effects – Protodrol was designed specifically to provide a bulking compound with a low risk of side effects so the only side effects you could expect to have would be those associated with all prohormone products.
